SkillsBuild is an enterprise-wide learning space that enables users to plan, manage, and complete their goals. The following, together with the IBM Terms of Use, are the terms of an agreement between you and IBM. By accessing, or using the SkillsBuild platform, application or website (SkillsBuild), you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to be bound by these terms and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including export and re-export control laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use SkillsBuild.

IBM may, without notice to you, at any time, revise these Terms of Use and any other information contained in SkillsBuild. IBM may also make improvements or changes in the products, services, or programs described in this site at any time without notice.

SkillsBuild provides its users with links to courses and other materials on third party websites. To the extent that you follow such links, your activity on such third-party sites shall be governed by such third-party websites’ terms of use and privacy statements, as applicable. Please contact the administrator of such third-party websites if you have any questions regarding the terms that govern your activity on such third-party websites.

Registering a user (individuals, contractor, business partner or others) in SkillsBuild does not create an employment or management reporting relationship which otherwise does not exist in IBM SkillsBuild's for Job Seekers official records.

Intellectual property: third party and open source software

At times, SkillsBuild may suggest installing software or browser plugins in order to facilitate the consumption of online media. You accept responsibility for your use of any such software or plugins from any source onto any computer or device, and IBM express disclaims any responsibility for the functioning of such software or plugins.

Translation disclaimer

SkillsBuild offers content in both human and machine-translated languages. Machine translation is offered on an "as-is" basis as a convenience for our users, based on a machine translation system. The machine translation is performed without human intervention or review. Translations may be imprecise and may even contain significant errors of meaning. SkillsBuild makes no representations or commitments regarding the accuracy or completeness of the translated text or page as a whole. In the event of any conflict, the English version governs.

Use of data

All data you share with or on SkillsBuild shall be governed by the SkillsBuild Privacy Policy, available at: SkillsBuild Data Privacy Agreement. To the extent you obtain data of any individual or organization other than yourself or your organization through SkillsBuild, you agree to notify IBM and destroy such data immediately upon receipt.

Inappropriate use

A "Flag as inappropriate" option is available on all entries in SkillsBuild and can be exercised by all users of the application. Any items that are flagged will be subject to review. In addition to those items that are flagged as inappropriate, should any content, software, or business processes that interact with the SkillsBuild be found to be an inappropriate use of the system, the SkillsBuild editors and support team reserve the right to delete or take actions to stop the offending content, software, or business process without permission of or notification to the offending party.

Learning tracking and privacy statement

Your learning activity completion information will be shared only on a need-to-know basis with persons who have the proper approval. Your education records will only be shared with you, and any NPO you may have registered through. SkillsBuild administrators are also be able to access your education information. If you do not consent to the terms of this statement about education tracking, you should not complete the SkillsBuild registration.

Non-Personal Use of SkillsBuild

If your use of SkillsBuild is intended to benefit a corporation, organization, cooperative, coalition or any other entity or group, or any use other than your individual personal use, you expressly agree to the following representations and warranties:

  • Nondiscrimination: My organization does not and shall not advocate, support, or practice activities inconsistent with IBM’s [United Way’s and/or local NPO’s] nondiscrimination policies, whether based on race, color, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, political affiliation, disability or veteran status;
  • Compliance with Laws & Ethics: My organization commits to using the proposed business or technology consulting solely for the benefit of our organization, in a manner that reflects the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct and in accordance with all laws, rules and regulations applicable to our organization, including without limitation all applicable anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws; and
  • No Conflicts of Interest: My organization agrees that the proposed business or technology consulting is not intended to influence, and will not influence, the procurement decisions of our organization or any organization with which our officers, board members or trustees or their family members are employed or otherwise affiliated; and.
  • Antiterrorism: My organization does not and shall not use the proposed business or technology consulting to support or promote violence, terrorist activity or related training of any kind, either directly or indirectly (including through support of other organizations or persons engaged in such activity).

The team maintaining and supporting SkillsBuild will prioritize the support requests (tickets) and address the requests.

Agreement

By adding your name to the Net Promoter Score (NPS) Feedback widget or by giving us feedback in the Learning Comments section, you are giving us consent to contact you to improve the SkillsBuild user experience.

By using the SkillsBuild platform, browser plugins, widgets, and services you agree to comply fully with this terms of use document.
